I recently wrote a blog post were I shared that we recently reached our goal of getting to $100 MRR (monthly recurring revenue).
In this post, I’ll share our plan to get to 1K MRR. It’s always good to have a plan and it will be interesting to look back in time to see what worked and what didn’t.
Becoming a media company for our niche
I don’t remember who said it but it’s excellent: Don’t do content marketing, create a media company for your niche.
That’s our plan. We’re frustratingly on the second page of Google but it’s only a matter of time before we start ranking.
We’ve also started to focus more on Youtube and that has been going extremely well - we plan on spending more time creating videos for sure.
Making our app more viral
The Personal CRM space is a bit weird regarding sharing. If someone tells you that they have added you to their personal crm, how would you feel?
Some like it and see it as a form of commitment to building a friendship while others consider it as a lack of genuine interest.
This will definitely be a challenge but the reality is that without word of mouth, there is no way we’ll grow so we have to go for it anyway.
Raise our prices
Our current pricing strategy is as follows: Keep increasing the prices until people stop subscribing.
Keep increasing the prices until people stop subscribing.
This is nice as it encourages people to sign up now (and get the cheap price) and also rewards early customers (as they get a discounted price).
Increase usage and stickiness
Our median customer uses our app once every few weeks to see who they’re losing touch with - that’s definitely not enough to stay top of mind and become a core part of our customer’s lives, to mitigate this, we’re planning on massively improving our note taking experience.
After all, relationship building is a lot about note taking in our busy internet world and similarly to the Evernote model, the more notes a user has written, the stickier our app becomes.
We'll report back in a few months!
